Assassin's Creed Fanfic - Picks up after the events of "The Painter and the Warlord" but can easily be read without it.
Warning: Yaoi! Leo/Cesare

Cesare captures Monteriggioni and the Apple. Now he needs a puzzle-solver to find out what the Apple can actually do. Leonardo is the obvious candidate for the job, but he is not too happy about being dragged there in chains...

Ohhh my! All the reasons I was utterly on love with your last series come flooding back to memory and are wonderfully included in this one too.

I love the character dynamics you play with, you make their energy and individual personalities so electric and reactive. Every moment is meaning, sparking, stirring... It's so enticing, I love it! You build off the last series momentum with the characteristics you defined -- mainly Leo's calm, measured behavior -- and use it to make his sudden deviation from habits so explosive and engaging. But even though it's been a while since I've read it, I don't feel like I'm behind in this chapter. You sort of built up the 'norm' for the characters, letting the reader know what to expect from them as a quick but useful summary in the beginning, and then rolled right into the momentum. I loved it!

Your dialogue is outstanding! You had me squirming in my seat! Every word was well chosen and matched for the character. So not only was it engaging to see them spar off each other, it was enticing to see them go as individuals. I loved how spitefully reserved Leo was at first. Your description of him showing up all rough up had be squee-ing in anticipation, ah, I loved the tension! Caesar is much softer now and I like how fascinated he is with Leo -- I like how their relationship has softened him, but in the same light, he's still that Warlord that likes to see war, even in domestic settings. Ahh, so engaging!

I look forward to reading more and I feel awful for waiting so long to dive into this!
